Do I Really Need to see a Psychologist?
The types of people who see psychologists are emotionally distressed or concerned about something in their lives. Most of the people who see psychologists are generally managing the demands of work and relationships but are feeling stuck in some areas. Some of the people who see psychologists are struggling in many areas and having a lot of trouble getting by at work or in their relationships with others.
When you first meet with your psychologist you can discuss whether or not any further sessions are needed and if psychological therapy is necessary. Sometimes people come along, and after talking about things for a few sessions, feel better and are able to view things differently. The only way to find out if it is right for you is to come along to a session and see how you find it. If you really don’t need to see someone at this time then your psychologist will be honest with you and make alternative suggestions.
